In 2016 I met Asta and Giedrius. They have a social project "Kūrybos kampas 360" ("A corner of creativity 360") which develop zero waste (and secondary design) ideas. The material I use is close to this idea too, for this reason we found common projects really easy. After a year of our collaboration I contributed with furniture to create their new home. We used the materials which were collected in "Kūrybos kampas 360": Soviet furniture, old white laminated plywood, blue plywood from "Kaunas bienalė" 2015 information stand, defected doors.

"The Cube" is a design piece made of plywood waste from my workshop.
This cabinet is all about rectangular shapes and aesthetics found in irregularity. It has one big drawer and is all covered in paint and shiny lacquer. It stands on a brass base.

To make these, I used various different leftover materials that accumulated over a long period of time: birch plywood scraps, old wood from door frames, remnants of drawer rails, even paint and lacquer leftover from previous projects.
BLUE WHITE WOODEN SQUARES
In 2017 together with Kūrybos Kampas 360, we had a big reclaimed furniture project. After the project, there were some evenly thick birch plywood waste leftover (They were painted blue, white laminated and natural plywood). Plywood was cut into squares and laid out like a mosaic.

CABINET
The unusual cabinet shape was inspired by whatever drawer leftovers I had. Therefore, the shape of the cabinet is framed according to the length of the available drawer slides.

The fasade of the hutch is constructed with an upcycled element that once belonged to the Kaunas City Museum building - an old, wooden and rather peculiar window frame. Six glass hatches are installed for opening and divides a six part frame. With this way of design it is intended to highlight the massy polygonic form of an old window. Covered in black matted colour the hutch box subtlely enriches materials incorporated in the fasade but does not overshadow its unique appearance.
